Advisement
Students should contact their major department or school as early as possible to arrange for an academic advisor and should meet with their advisors regularly, especially before registering for courses. Department phone numbers are listed in the Departments, School and Centers webpage and in the University Directory. These phone numbers and a list of current academic advisors are also available from the Dean's Office.
General University and CHHS Supplemental Scholarship Opportunities
Before completing a CHHS Supplemental Scholarship Application Form, you MUST FIRST complete the General University Scholarship Application through the University of Nevada, Reno, Scholarship Office at http://www.finaid.unr.edu. If you do not complete the General University Scholarship Application, you will not be eligible for the specific CHHS scholarships. Deadline: February 1
If you meet the above requirements, please choose your major below, and you will be directed to the proper Supplemental Scholarship Application.

- Human Development and Family Studies Supplemental Scholarship Application
Important Note: Only Supplemental Scholarship Applications submitted between October 1st and February 1st will be accepted! Submissions between February 2nd and September 30th will be automatically discarded.
Graduation Requirements
Every student must complete an application for graduation which also requires a fee. There are deadlines for each semester. The required application and additional information can be found online on the University website.
128
All students must complete at least 128 semester college credits. Even if a student completes all the required courses in major, 128 credits is a requirement of graduation.
64
At least 64 of those credits must be earned at a 4-year institution.
40
At least 40 upper-division credits must be earned at the Junior –Senior level (courses numbered 300 or higher). Please note some majors (Nursing) require more than 40.
32
At least 32 credits must be taken at the University of Nevada.
Of course, students must complete all requirements for a particular major as well.
Core Requirements
Students are responsible for keeping track of their progress throughout the core curriculum. It is strongly recommended that students complete lower division Core Curriculum requirements by the beginning of their junior year. Requests for substitutions, waivers and exceptions must be made before the senior year. It is also strongly recommended that students meet with their academic advisor each semester before registering for classes.

Changing your Major
In order to change your major to a choice in the College of Human and Community Sciences, you will need to download a Change of Major form from Records & Registration, visit the College office, complete the form, request the dean's signature, then take it to Admissions and Records. Please plan on meeting with the advisor in your new major to see how your completed classes meet the requirements of your newly declared major.
Repeat Adjustment
Another form you may need to use is the Repeat Adjustment Request form. Please consult with an advisor to make sure that you are getting the most out of this process.
Disqualification/Probation/Warning
If you have been put on “Disqualification” status, please plan on meeting with the CHHS Coordinator for Advisement, Recruitment and Retention for Advisement. During that meeting you will obtain a signed form that you will take to Admissions and Records in order to register for classes. This is the ONLY way you will be allowed to register.
