The Center for Program Evaluation (CPE) has been in operation formally since 1998, and was launched out of a great need for non-traditional approaches to program evaluation. Through one of our original contracts in the early 1990s, the National Head Start to Public School Transition Project and work with five states across the nation, CPE emerged as a joint sponsorship between the University of Nevada, Reno, and Turning Point, Inc., a private evaluation consulting firm established in 1988. Also through our work on this project, we developed an approach we call partnership evaluation. Today we continue the tradition of high quality, participatory evaluation with the goal of going beyond what is required by funding agencies to make evaluation work for our clients. This means we are committed to working in partnership with our clients to produce information that can be used to grow their organizations, improve their programs and services, and build their capacity for data-driven decision-making. We offer many opportunities for students, faculty, and community members to grow their expertise in evaluation and to integrate high quality evaluation services into their direct services, interventions, and demonstration projects. As an on-campus entity, we provide hands-on professional experiences for students to complement their coursework in research and evaluation. As a member of the Division of Health Sciences we are fortunate to draw upon the expertise of faculty in a wide array of health and human services disciplines associated with the projects we undertake. And, over the years, with the commitment, knowledge, and expertise of our evaluation team, we have developed numerous partnerships with community organizations, schools, and state systems to assist them with their evaluation needs and help them build a healthier Nevada. We are excited about the continuing possibilities to support the work of our clients and others working in our state to contribute to its overall well-being. We invite you to read more about our center and services and to check out the list of partners to determine if we can help meet your needs. Give us a call and let us show you how evaluation can empower your organization to meet its goals.
