March
30th: "Away From Her", Joe Crowley Student Union. 5:00 Free Dessert Reception, 6:00 Movie begins.
The Joe Crowley Student Union and Lyndy Mercer Bullock, Director of Moving Art Productions and formerly with Keystone Cinema present the Arthouse Film Series. The second film in the series, “Away From Her”, stars Oscar nominated Julie Christie in this beautifully moving love story that deals with Alzheimer’s. It is the lyrical screenplay adaptation by writer-director Sarah Polley of celebrated author Alice Munro’s short story “The Bear Came Over the Mountain”. The film also stars Gordon Pinsent and Olympia Dukakis. It is rated PG-13 and the running time is 110 minutes.
There will be a short introduction before the film and a brief discussion afterwards with special guests.
The event is co-sponsored by The Arbors Memory Care and the Alzheimer’s Association.
“Rarely has love at any age been depicted so honestly on screen. For such a fully realized portrait to be created by a 28-year-old first-time director is even more remarkable.” - Ann Hornaday, Washington Post
“Julie Christie’s radiance, beauty and talent are undiminished: she’s hauntingly, heartbreakingly good. Olympia Dukakis is superb.”
- David Ansen, Newsweek
