Field experience is an integral component of the gerontology certificate program that requires 120 hours in a setting approved by the director. Through service learning activities and a mentoring relationship with faculty, students apply knowledge and skills acquired in their academic coursework to practical issues identified in a community setting. By working closely with their site supervisor, students acquire requisite practice skills appropriate to the intended area of gerontological practice.
