Gerontology Minor: (18-credits) Students in more demanding majors may minor in gerontology by completing a total of 18 credits; 15 of which are required core courses. The additional 3 credits may be selected from approved electives. Field study, which is not required for the minor, can be used as an elective.
Gerontology Certificate: (24 credits) The Gerontology Certificate is recognized nationally as a Program of Merit signifying excellence and a quality education. The gerontology certificate program offers a specialization in aging to complement a student’s major field of study. There are 18 credits of required core courses including 3 credits of field experience approved by the Gerontology Academic Program director. The additional 6 credits are selected from the list of approved electives.
Online Gerontology Certificate: (24 credits) The Gerontology Academic Program has partnered with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Nevada State College to offer a gerontology certificate program that is web-based. With courses taught at all three campuses, this program is aimed at practicing professionals and others who cannot easily take on-ground courses.
