Principles of Physical Training

Gender differences, training across the lifespan, including pregnancy and exercise, children and exercise, and aging and exercise will be discussed in this course. The students will develop exercise prescriptions for all of the populations.

Advanced Exercise Physiology: Cardiopulmonary Physiology

Examines the effects of exercise and disease on the cardiopulmonary system and the integration of cardiovascular and pulmonary physiology.

Research Interests

Physical activity across the lifespan and the effects of hormones on bone density. She is currently working with Nutrition Education Research on a NIH funded grant working with overweight pre-schoolers and their overweight mothers to help prevent childhood obesity.

She is seeking funding with Jeff Elias at the Sanford Center for Aging at the University of Nevada, Reno to determine some of the factors that cause seniors to become less active as the transition from living independently to assisted living facilities.
