Core Humanities
- Students should not do substitions at all.
- Certain classes can be substituted if they were taken before becoming a UNR student (such as PS 101).
- After matriculation, students cannot substitute anything but Core Humanities classes from TMCC, WNCC or other colleges.
- Activity courses with letter behind them will NOT transfer from TMCC.
- Credits do NOT transfer automatically. Students must request 2 copies of transcript. One while they are taking the course and one after completion.
Capstone Classes
- For students enrolled BEFORE 2005, both capstone courses can be outside the major but at least one has to be outside
- For students enrolled AFTER 2005, one capstone course has to be inside one's major and one outside one's major.
Repeating Courses
If students do poorly on a course and want to repeat it they must fill out and submit a repeat request form. The grade can be replaced the next semester the course is offered. If the course is taken any time after that, the grades will average.
Students may repeat a maximum of 12 lower division credits (100-200 level) to replace originial University of Nevada, Reno grades. The course(s) must be repeated and completed at the University during the next regular semester in which the course is offered and the student is enrolled. The most recent grade earned in the course will be used in the grade-point calculation. Students who wish to utilize the repeat adjustment policy must file an application in the Office of Admission and Records.
Repeating Courses-Graduate
Graduate students may repeat a course for which they received a grade which does not permit that course to be applied to an advanced degree (C or below, or U). The course may be repeated one time with the approval of the student's advisor and the director of graduate studies for the student's graduate program. The grade received for the repeated course does not replace the original grade but is calculated into the student's overall grade point average as if it were any other course.
