The School of Social Work offers an undergraduate degree and a graduate degree in Social Work:
Bachelor of Social Work
The bachelor of social work degree includes course and field work that prepare students for entry-level professional social work practice. The degree also prepares students for admission to graduate school. By combining course work and field experience, students learn the professional foundation of knowledge, theories, skills and values that enable them to function as social workers in areas such as public assistance, child welfare, mental health, mental retardation, rehabilitation, delinquency, corrections, community development, planning and administration, aging, and health care. Master of Social Work
The purpose of graduate social work education at the University of Nevada, Reno is to prepare advanced generalist social workers who will practice in public and private agencies. The program is committed to the enhancement of human well-being and the promotion of social and economic justice, with particular attention to the strengths and needs of the citizens of Nevada and the underserved populations of the state.
